Shockbag® is a device developed to facilitate the recovery of a wallet, purse or backpack snatched in a theft or robbery in a matter of seconds.

It is a radio-controlled device that, when activated, emits a non-lethal electric shock. The discharge provokes an involuntary reaction in the individual who has contact with the snatched item, where he/she loses control and possession of it.

Shockbag® is currently in a prototype phase. In order to commercially and technically validate this product, we conducted this round of financing to produce the first 350 units.

In Uruguay, 175,000 reports of theft and robbery are registered annually (it is estimated that 40% more do not file a report).

Only 2% to 4% of victims recover their personal effects.

We initiated this project with the objective of providing a tool that will significantly improve the following situations:

• The real possibility of recovering the stolen items in just seconds allows the victims not to resist, thus preventing the violence from escalating and minimizing the risks involved (1 in 5 Uruguayans is injured when these events occur).
• Significantly improve the recovery rate of personal effects.
• Regain the confidence to go out in the street with the desired personal effects and not with just enough for fear of attracting attention.
